1. The ‘one’ trait of a cheating partner

Though there is no guaranteed way to determine whether your partner would ever cheat on you or not in the future, but science seems to have found a trait that increases the possibility of infidelity in a relationship. Going by the findings of a study published in the British Journal of Psychology, people who have ‘impulsive’ tendencies or higher number of sexual partners in their past are more likely to cheat in a relationship.

2. Is your partner impulsive?

The researchers explained that ‘impulsive’ individuals are more prone to cheat in a relationship because they tend to take action without giving it proper thoughts or analysing the situation.

3. What about the sexual partners?

People who have shared sexual intimacy with multiple partners tend to be more unfaithful in a relationship because they develop certain ‘skills’ that helps them to recognise sexual advances or ‘recruitment’ of sex partners.

4. The study

This study was conducted on 123 heterosexual people, who were in a relationship and were aged between 17 to 25 years.

5. Why people cheat?

The researchers concluded that the feeling of detachment from the lover and low relationship satisfaction were the top factors behind a partner turning unfaithful.

6. Who is more likely to have sex?

Well, the study says men are more likely to have sex when they cheat but both the sexes are equally likely to resort to cheating by kissing.

7. Once a cheater, always a cheater?

Since we are talking about infidelity, here’s another sign that you can consider as a red flag for your relationship. As per a study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, a person who has cheated on his partner earlier is three times more likely to do it on the next partner. Perhaps, the saying ‘once a cheater, always a cheater’ can be proved to be right scientifically.
