More than 500 residents of Ekumfi Akotsi and Ekumfi Dunkwa in the Central Region have reportedly gathered along the Ekumfi-Mankessim highway to retrieve clothes from a cargo truck that caught fire after an accident.

The 40-foot truck, which was transporting clothes from the Tema Harbour to Ivory Coast, was involved in an accident between the two communities before it caught fire.

The incident attracted hundreds of residents to the scene, with some arriving on aboboyaa tricycles to collect clothes that were partially burnt or had been scattered from the truck.

Speaking to Adom News, an eyewitness, Francis Amoah, recounted how the accident occurred and described the rush by residents to carry away the clothes.

Some residents were also seen sorting through the clothes, with several expressing excitement over the opportunity to obtain clothing from the damaged consignment.

Others made humorous remarks about how the clothes could help unmarried people prepare for marriage.
