Highlife musician Joseph Amoah, popularly known as Adane Best, has shared a dramatic account of how he believes he narrowly escaped death during a severe flood incident more than two decades ago.

Recalling events from his time at Chorkor, the musician said a violent storm once struck the area, ripping off roofing sheets and leaving widespread destruction across the community.

He explained that in the midst of the chaos, he decided to leave his room for safety as the situation worsened.

However, as he attempted to step outside, he noticed a goat moving rapidly toward the same direction so he paused to let the animal pass first, a decision that later became his saving grace.

Adane Best recounted that as soon as the goat stepped into a waterlogged area in front of his room, it was instantly electrocuted and died on the spot.

The musician reflected that if he had stepped forward first, he might have suffered the same fate.

Adane Best said the incident made him realise the level of danger he had been in, adding that he believes the moment was a divine intervention that saved his life.

The incident is linked in memory to the devastating floods experienced in parts of Accra in 2001, where residents were forced to seek safety on rooftops and trees during severe downpours.

Scores died in that incident, recording it as one of the deadliest flooding situation the country has experienced.
