Terms of a tenancy agreement described as ‘wicked’ by a woman in her late fifties pitched her against her landlady.
Esther Nyamekye is challenging her land lady, Adwoa Comfort’s stance to increase the rent each time fuel prices go up without corresponding reduction when prices drop.
It is one of nine conditions the tenant will have to comply with, having already spent six months in the property at Afrancho-Hremang, near Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
Esther narrating her ordeal to Nhyira FM’s Obra host, Naa Amerley said she is restrained from receiving visitors, both relatives and friends, in the house.
Sharing her anger and disgust, she said Comfort refuses to give her a refund so she can move out.
Esther accuses her landlady of raining insults on her without provocation, besides denying her access to the toilet in the house.
“This woman always takes decisions without consulting us. Just last month she came with a tenancy agreement warning me not to make noise, not to expect visitors and even denies me access to the toilet.
She tells Obra attempts by community leaders to resolve the matter have been unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, efforts to reach Comfort for her side of the story proved futile.
