Chiefs at Sankore in the Asunafo South District of Brong-Ahafo region are threatening to storm the Flagstaff House if government does not move to resolve the continuous clashes between members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The chiefs led by the Omanhene of Sankore Traditional Council in Asunafo South District Ogyedom Appiah Kubi Katakyie IV said the conflict between the two political parties has been going on for so many years but government has refused to step in to bring an end to the situation.
His comment follows the recent clash between NPP and NDC which led to the death of one person.
So far, two persons have been arrested by the Police to assist in investigations concerning a bloody clash between some supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Party (NDC) at Sankore.
The clash led to the death of one person, a 30-year old unemployed, whilst the two arrested are in the Police custody at Sankore.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwame Tachie-Poku, the Regional Police Commander, briefing the press in Sunyani stated that the deceased, named Kwasi Addai, died in the process and the body has been deposited at Goaso Government Hospital.
But Ogyedom Appiah Kubi Katakyie IV says there has never been peace in the town ever since the incident happened.
He said many people have lost their lives and properties due to the inaction of police and to a large extent government.
The livid chief said they will have no other choice than to picket at the Flagstaff House if their demand is not met.
“We have given President Akufo-Addo sometime to put measures in place to stop the clash in the town but if he fails we will have no option than to picket at the flagstaff House and will also avoid the 2020 elections” he vowed.
