A 36-year-old said to be part of the mob who lynched army Captain Maxwell Mahama has been arrested.

The suspect, Kwame Tufour was arrest by the Atwima Mponua District Police Command in a town called Domeabra in the Ashanti region.

The District Police Commander, ASP Ambrose Aboagye who confirmed this to Adom News said they had a tipoff from residents in the area.

When the police got to his hideout, he said Kwame Tufour was there with one Kwame Adjei 40 who tried to escape but was re-arrested by the police.

Upon interrogation, the suspect revealed that, he was the last person to hit Captain Maxwell Mahama with a cement block which resulted in his death.

He indicated that, others used life-threatening objects to attack the Captain whom they suspected to be an armed robber.

ASP Aboagye noted that the suspect claimed they thought he [Mahama] was a criminal so he pummeled him continuously with the cement block until he died.
