The Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations at the Electoral Commission (EC), Amadu Sulley has disclosed he’s seeking advice from his lawyers over the corruption allegations leveled against him by the Chairperson of the commission, Charlotte Osei
The EC Boss, in reaction to a petition by some anonymous staff of the commission seeking her impeachment, alleged that Mr. Sulley has been engaging in some financial misappropriation at the commission.
“The Deputy Chairperson Operations collected funds above GHS6m (Six million Ghana cedis) in cash from some political parties for the organization of party primaries without recourse to the structures of the Commission, and without the involvement of the finance department of the Commission. Political party primaries were treated as a private commercial project by the Deputy Chairperson Ops, with funds paid directly into the personal accounts of key staff for functions to be performed for party primaries.
“The Deputy Chairperson Operations has persistently instructed officials to carry out illegal vote transfers on the Voter management System in clear breach of the law and operational policies of the Commission. Such actions have major implications for the integrity of the work of the Commission and constitute abuse of office,” EC boss noted.
But in a response, Mr. Sulley texted Starr News’ Ibrahim Alhassan that he is consulting his lawyers over the allegation.
“I want to assure you that it’s not true. I have all the documents and I am going for legal advice”.
I hv read up to claim 6 and responds and i think the best thing to do now is to sack all the deputies to clean up the system.
There is no need to worry ourselves for any investigation. The lady came to meet mafia group in the EC and its getting really tough for her to work with them.
She will help us clean the system of corruption. He who lives in a glass house dont throw stone but the petitioners have open the can-worm and now the lady, the commissioner is free to free her heart and mind…..sorry for those who do not know much but claim to know it all.
There is bitterness in the heart of few staff, mostly the deputies who the lady has denied from enriching themselves as usual. Ghana is totally corrupt form head to toe…every sector of government is corrupt yet the same people turn around and blame others for being corrupt. Ghana is in trouble…..!!!!
