Mankranso in the Ahafo Ano South West District has been plunged into mourning following the sudden death of its District Chief Executive, Abubakar Sedik.
The usually busy community has taken on a sombre atmosphere as residents, family members, friends, sympathisers and members of the National Democratic Congress gather to mourn the late DCE and commiserate with his family.
Mr Sedik is reported to have died at the Mankranso Government Hospital after a short illness, leaving residents and colleagues struggling to come to terms with his sudden passing.
At his residence, grief has been evident as mourners continue to arrive to pay their last respects. Some have been seen in deep sorrow, while others have gathered quietly as they reflect on the news of the death of the district’s chief executive.
For many residents, the loss has been particularly difficult because of how suddenly the news came.
The late DCE had remained active in official stakeholder engagements in Kumasi shortly before his death.
The meeting reportedly focused on the completion of the Kejetia Phase Two project and brought together leaders of trader groups and the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
According to reports, the DCE complained of body pains upon his return to Mankranso and was rushed to the hospital, where he reportedly passed away.
