The Dean of Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the Ahafo Region, Benjamin Assabil Donkor, has announced that the John Mahama-led government will reconstruct the Tepa–Goaso road as a tribute to the late Nana Kwasi Bosomprah, Paramount Chief of Goaso.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News at the chief’s funeral on behalf of his colleagues, the government, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Donkor said the road, which links the Ahafo and Ashanti regions, was of deep concern to the late chief due to its poor condition, which caused significant hardship for commuters and residents along the route.
He recalled that before the 2024 general elections, Nana Kwasi Bosomprah personally appealed to then-opposition leader John Dramani Mahama to ensure the road was fixed if he became president — a request to which Mr. Mahama agreed.
Mr. Donkor added that the contractor, Kofi Job, who had abandoned the site, is now back under presidential directive to resume work and bring relief to the people.
Meanwhile, Nana Sarpong Emmanuel, President of the Asunafo North Cooperative Cocoa Farmers Union, described the late chief as a staunch opponent of illegal mining in the Goaso area.
He urged subchiefs under the Goaso Traditional Council to uphold his legacy by protecting farmlands from illegal mining and logging to safeguard the livelihoods of cocoa farmers.
Nana Kwasi Bosomprah passed away after a prolonged illness. His death was officially announced on December 16, 2024, by Otumfuo’s linguist, Kyeame Antwi Boasiako, during an Asanteman Council meeting.
Nana Bosomprah, who ascended the Goasomanhene stool in 2008, was a prominent traditional leader known for his vocal advocacy for development and his critiques of government policies he believed hindered progress in the Goaso area.
