The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has prevented a domestic fire from destroying a six-bedroom house at Apaaso in the Kintampo Municipality of the Bono East Region.
The incident occurred on Monday, August 24, 2026, after the Kintampo Fire Station received a distress call at about 6:21 p.m. reporting an outbreak of fire at the community.
A fire tender, DPT No. FS498, driven by STNOI Adu Clement, with a crew of seven firefighters under the command of ADOII Muriya Gordon, was dispatched to the scene a minute after the call was received.
The team arrived at about 6:32 p.m. and found the storeroom of the six-bedroom house engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to adjoining rooms.
After assessing the situation, the Duty Officer directed the crew to commence firefighting operations.
The firefighters successfully brought the fire under control at 6:43 p.m. and completely extinguished it at 7:03 p.m., saving all six rooms of the house from destruction.
The GNFS said its personnel subsequently educated members of the household on proper housekeeping practices and fire prevention measures.
The household was also advised on the importance of having fire extinguishers readily available and was taken through how to use them effectively.
