The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has successfully contained a domestic fire at Teshie Penny in the Greater Accra Region, preventing the blaze from spreading to nearby buildings and averting what could have been a major disaster.
According to the GNFS, firefighters from the Trade Fair Fire Station responded swiftly to the incident, which occurred on the evening of July 29, after the fire threatened neighbouring properties in the densely populated community.
The timely intervention brought the blaze under control before it could engulf adjoining structures.
The fire destroyed the contents of one room in the affected house and partially damaged the hall and kitchen. However, firefighters managed to save the remaining sections of the building, a nearby self-contained apartment, and an adjoining five-bedroom house from being consumed by the flames.
No injuries or fatalities were recorded during the incident.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established and remains under investigation.
The Ghana National Fire Service has urged the public to adhere to fire safety precautions and report fire outbreaks and other emergencies promptly to help minimise damage and save lives.
