The Ghana National Fire Service has successfully contained a fire outbreak at Atekyem near Universal School in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
According to the Service, the incident occurred on Thursday, May 21, 2026, after a distress call was received at about 11:14 a.m.
In a statement shared on Facebook, the GNFS said a team led by Assistant Divisional Officer I (ADO I) Sagoe arrived at the scene at 11:26 a.m. and found a six-bedroom self-contained house engulfed in flames from the roof section.
Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control at 12:21 p.m. and completely extinguished it at 12:57 p.m.
Although the building and most of its contents were destroyed, the fire officers were able to salvage several household items from the blaze.
The salvaged items included a tabletop fridge, kitchen utensils, a 6kg gas cylinder, plastic racks and wash basins.
The Service confirmed that no injuries or fatalities were recorded in the incident.
According to the GNFS, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Fire Service further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report fire outbreaks promptly to help prevent extensive damage and loss of lives.
