Defence Minister-designate Dominic Nitiwul has set the records straight on the circumstances that led to the retirement of Acting Inspector General of Police John Kudalor.

According to him, the Akufo-Addo led administration didn’t “push out” the former police chief as it is being speculated in the media.
Kudalor retired on Wednesday, 25 January. He bid farewell to the president at the Flagstaff House.

Subsequently, Mr Akufo-Addo named an acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP David Asante Apeatu.

Many have linked his exist to political witch hunt following his handling of Let My Vote Count demonstrators which led to a New Patriotic Party (NPP) party activist losing an eye.

But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Mr. Nitiwul said the contract of the former IGP has ended.

He explained that, John Kudalor was appointed by President John Mahama in the immediate past administration and would have been allowed to continue if he was not due for retirement.

“He [Kudalor] was never pushed, he was on contract and his time was up. Nana has a fair, clean mind about individuals. He does not see political colours in individuals. Even if you are NDC and capable, he will work with you” Defence Minister-designate stated.

Mr. Nitiwul stated emphatically that, government will not hound any public officer doing his or work professionally.
