Former Ebusua Dwarfs head coach, J. E Sarpong has urged the Black Stars not to concentrate on money.

The Black Stars after winning their two matches will now play Egypt on Wednesday in the final round of the group matches.

Ahead of the tournament, it wasn’t clear how much the players will be receiving after outgone sports minister, Nii Lante Vanderpuye slashed the winning bonus from $10,000 to $8,000 asking the players to be patriotic enough to serve the country.

Ahead of their group opener against Uganda in Stade Port Gentil, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Sanni Darra in an interview with media, said the players are ready and willing to accept any amount of money the government gives them as winning bonus.

And after winning two matches without conceding a goal, the team have not received their winning bonuses but the veteran coach believes it is better the players do not concentrate on money.

“I have to praise the players for their performance.” He told Asempa FM.

“I will tell them not to demand any huge amount of money from the government as winning bonus because Ghanaians are already with the team due to what happened in Brazil.

“I know if they win the cup, the president will honour his promise but as it stands, I will urge them not to make any huge demands from the government,” he added.
