Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, will begin their journey toward the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles from the second round of the African qualifiers, where they will face either Mauritius or Djibouti.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the preliminary schedule for the Women’s Olympic Football qualifying campaign, confirming that Ghana have been handed a bye in the opening round due to their higher ranking on the continent.

As a result, the Black Queens will skip the first phase and await the winner of the first-round clash between Mauritius and Djibouti in the second round, which is set for October 5 to October 13, 2026.

Beyond that stage, Ghana will still need to progress through three more knockout rounds if they are to secure one of Africa’s coveted slots at the women’s football tournament at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
