The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified that teachers who have recently been promoted to new ranks do not need to submit application letters or additional documents to have their salaries adjusted.
The clarification follows concerns raised by some newly promoted teachers who said they had been directed in certain regions and districts to submit their promotion letters, application letters and other documents for salary adjustments.
In a statement, the GES explained that its existing practice is for teachers who are promoted to new ranks to be automatically placed on the appropriate salary scale corresponding to their new positions.
The Service stressed that this arrangement has not changed.
Teachers who have received promotions are therefore not required to submit additional documents specifically for the adjustment of their salaries to reflect their new ranks.
The GES has consequently advised newly promoted teachers to disregard requests to submit such documents for salary adjustment.
Management said it is engaging the few regions and districts reportedly making the requests to ensure that the established process is properly followed.
The Service has also urged teachers to remain calm while the engagements continue.
