The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has successfully secured a UK visa for medical treatment for Suzzy Adwoa Pinamang, the girl who was accidentally shot in the eye by a classmate.

Additionally, two caregivers who will accompany her on the medical trip have also received their visas.

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced the development in a Facebook post. He stated that the Ghana High Commission in the UK has been instructed to provide special consular privileges to Suzzy and her caregivers.

Mr. Ablakwa also expressed his appreciation to businessman Ibrahim Mahama for covering the entire cost of Suzzy’s medical treatment in the UK.

Suzzy, a second-year student at Adventist SHS in Bantama, Ashanti Region, was shot in the eye by a male classmate, who allegedly accidentally fired a weapon he had brought to class on Friday, April 4, 2025.

The medical treatment abroad follows confirmation by doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) of severe injuries to her eye, with an urgent surgical operation advised.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ablakwa praised Suzzy as a brave girl and encouraged her not to give up in her recovery process.
