The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has paid tribute to the late Executive Secretary of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG), Dr Isaac Bampoe Addo, describing him as a strong and influential voice in Ghana’s labour relations.
The Commission said Dr Bampoe Addo dedicated his career to promoting fairness, workers’ welfare and stronger public institutions.
In a tribute following his death on Friday, August 21, 2026, FWSC Chief Executive, Dr George Smith-Graham, praised the late labour leader for his commitment to public-sector workers and his contribution to national discussions on labour and compensation.
He described Dr Bampoe Addo as “passionate, articulate” and “intellectually engaging”, highlighting his participation in stakeholder engagements on the proposed establishment of the Independent Public Emoluments Commission (IPEC) shortly before his passing.
Dr Smith-Graham noted that although the mandates of the FWSC and CLOGSAG sometimes placed the two institutions on opposing sides during negotiations, Dr Bampoe Addo consistently maintained mutual respect and remained committed to dialogue.
“Dr Bampoe Addo was more than the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG. He was a formidable voice in Ghana’s labour relations landscape and a committed advocate for fairness and the welfare of workers,” he said.
According to him, the late CLOGSAG executive understood the importance of social dialogue and its role in balancing the interests of workers, government and the broader national interest.
The FWSC said Dr Bampoe Addo’s influence went beyond his role at CLOGSAG, extending to Organised Labour, Ghana’s public service and the country’s wider social partnership framework.
Dr Smith-Graham added that his contributions to discussions on public-sector compensation and the establishment of IPEC would remain an important part of Ghana’s labour relations history.
