European Union (EU) Ambassador to Ghana, Rune Skinnebach, has paid a courtesy call on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between the EU and the Ghana Police Service.
The meeting focused on existing areas of EU support to the Police Service, particularly initiatives aimed at improving the capacity and effectiveness of the Service.
Key areas of collaboration include police training, community policing, forensic investigations, cybersecurity, crime scene management and other capacity-building programmes.
The IGP expressed appreciation to the EU for its continued support and called for deeper collaboration in areas he identified as critical to modern policing.
These include cybersecurity, counter-terrorism, specialised training and community policing.
Ambassador Skinnebach reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to working with the Ghana Police Service as a partner in strengthening policing and supporting efforts to promote security and the rule of law in Ghana.
The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation between the two institutions in addressing emerging security challenges and improving policing capabilities.
