The Environmental Service Providers Association (ESPA) has pledged its full support for the two-day National General Cleaning Exercise declared by President John Dramani Mahama following the devastating floods that affected seven regions.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 8, ESPA welcomed the Presidency’s decision to designate Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, 2026, as National General Cleaning Days under the theme, “Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana after the Floods.”

The Association described the initiative as a timely and necessary response to the sanitation challenges that have contributed to recurring flooding and the loss of lives and property across the country.

ESPA commended the Post-Flood Mitigation Committee and the government for what it described as the clarity and urgency of the directive, while reaffirming its commitment to supporting the nationwide exercise.

According to the Association, it will work closely with the security agencies, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), and waste management companies to ensure the successful implementation of the clean-up campaign.

As part of its contribution, ESPA has directed all its members to make available the necessary logistics, technical expertise and coordination support required for the exercise.

The Association said it would also mobilise its members across the affected regions and stands ready to assist in any capacity that would strengthen the delivery of the national intervention.

ESPA further called on its members, stakeholders in the sanitation sector and the general public to actively participate in the clean-up exercise to help improve sanitation and reduce the risk of future flooding.

The Association stressed that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility and urged Ghanaians to support efforts aimed at protecting lives, property and the environment.
