Embark on media tours to penetrate Nigerian market – Becca’s husband to Ghanaian musicians

CEO of Nigeria-based State of Mind Entertainment, Dr Oluwatobi Sanni Daniel has highlighted the need for music to be recognised across borders through promotion and strong networks.

Dr Tobi who is also Songstress Becca’s husband said music from other parts of the world are better accepted when artistes present themselves physically outside their comfort zones, for massive promotion and strong links.

”Here in Nigeria, musicians from other parts of the world are physically required to be present contents before their songs can be played on the airwaves. Musicians must learn to promote their works extensively to gain recognition.”

According to him, the act of being physically present for music promotion is a way of imposing foreign content on organisations to play those songs.

“If other musicians come down to Nigeria with their songs, we would be forced to play their songs. If you don’t come, your songs won’t be played.”

Team leader of the organizers of the just ended launch concert of Zylofon Media and Menzgold in Nigeria added that promotion was not limited to studio collaborations alone.

The former manager of Nigerian musician, Ice Prince established the fact that Ghanaian artistes, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Becca, Efya, MzVee among others have big music collaborations with some Nigerian artistes adding that a lot more effort ought to be put, to change the narrative.

“Studio collaborations are not enough. Musicians must do joint collaborations often, embark on media tour and perform those songs together on stage in promoting their music to break through other music markets.”

Additionally, he cited that even though the broadcasting policy in Nigeria(80% local music and 20% foreign) is in motion, a number of Ghanaian artistes are still able to hit the top rank of music charts on countless occasions.

“Yes, there is a broadcasting policy but Ghanaian artistes like Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, King Promise, KiDi and Kuami Eugene are on top of Nigerian playlists most times”, he concluded.
