Acting General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party, James Kwabena Bomfeh says there are problems associated with the Electoral Commission’s (EC) limited registration exercise because the EC, the government and citizenry have failed to live up to expectation in the past years.

According to Mr Bomfeh, if things were in order during previous voters’ registration exercises “we would have had few people registering in the upcoming limited exercise which will limit the problems springing up.

“We are not sincere with the decisions we make, we are not truthful with the real issues confronting us as a country, and we keep procrastinating and playing around issues that will help develop the country. If we did things well with our previous voter’s registration we would have few people registering now that the limited registration is opened,” he stated on Peace FM, monitored by Adomonline.

He added that the technological system of collecting data by the two parties, EC and the National Identification Authority should be the same for easy access and collection of data.

“All these issues have been raised over and over again but nothing has been done about it. When we do this we will have one parent register which will be the national data register that can have National Health Insurance Scheme, driving license and passport, all in one card,” he suggested.

He urged that things related to voting and elections in Ghana should be taken seriously and authorities should also be truthful about decisions taken on elections.
