The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has commissioned a new ultra-modern office at the Tema Port as part of efforts to expand access to its services across the country.
The Tema Port Ultra-Modern Centre is the 30th office commissioned by the Authority within the past 18 months.
According to the DVLA, the expansion forms part of its broader drive to bring its services closer to stakeholders and establish a presence in every district across Ghana.
The new facility will provide a full range of DVLA services under one roof, making it easier for port users and other stakeholders to access the Authority’s services.
The centre will also have the exclusive responsibility for the registration of excavators at the Tema Port.
Plans for 24-hour operations
The DVLA says plans are far advanced to transform the facility into a 24-hour operation.
The initiative, it said, is being pursued with the support of the Member of Parliament for Tema East, Isaac Ashai Odamtten, and a private investor.
The move is expected to improve accessibility and provide greater flexibility for customers who require DVLA services at the port.
The Authority expressed appreciation to Mr Odamtten, the private investor, its two Deputy Chief Executives, Directors and members of management for their support towards the establishment of the new facility.
