The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has cut sod for the construction of a DVLA office at Bechem in the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo Region.
Addressing the chiefs, staff of the municipal assembly, security services, politicians, residents, among others, the CEO, Julius Neequaye Kotey, expressed gratitude to the chiefs for freely providing land for the project, which will take ten (10) months for completion, according to the contractor, called Marion Construction Limited.
In an interview with Adom News, the Paramount Chief of Bechem Traditional Council, Nana Asiwobour Osei Bonsu (III) also appreciated President John Dramani Mahama and the CEO of DVLA for deeming it important to establish an office at Bechem to provide the needed services for residents.
He indicated that the traditional council is ready to prland lands for government institutions in Bechem to help accelerate development and also provide jobs for the people; therefore,e other agencies and institutions must come on board.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano South Constituency, Charles Asiedu, said it’s good news for DVLA to have its own office, which will soon end the money they pay to the Business Advisory Centre (BAC) for occupying part of their (BAC) office temporarily.
In addition, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tano South, Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, noted that the presence of the DVLA is gradually ending the stress drivers and riders have been enduring for years by accessing services from either Goaso or Sunyani.
Again, he said the availability of the DVLA office at Bechem has given jobs to a section of residents; therefore, they are pleased with the government.
