Driver escapes unhurt after accident at Anfoega Adame Newtown

A driver was rescued by firefighters after his vehicle crashed into an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) distribution pole at Anfoega Adame Newtown in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region.

The incident occurred on Monday, July 7, 2026, when a Hyundai Accent with registration number GW 6383-17 veered off the road and crashed into the utility pole, leaving the driver trapped inside the mangled vehicle.

Personnel from the Anfoega Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), who witnessed the crash from their station located directly opposite the accident scene, responded immediately.

The rescue team, led by Station Officer I Franklin Soglo, safely extricated the driver from the wreckage.

The driver escaped without visible injuries but was advised to seek medical attention as a precaution.

Following the rescue, the damaged vehicle was towed to the police station to aid investigations into the cause of the crash. Firefighters also managed traffic at the scene to ensure the safe movement of motorists and other road users.

Meanwhile, GNFS has reminded motorists to adhere to road safety regulations, avoid distractions while driving, and exercise caution at all times to help reduce road traffic accidents.
