The Ashanti Regional Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Francis Adomako, has called on party leadership to formally recognise and acknowledge the contributions of the Council of Elders and Founding Members.

Speaking after hosting the party’s Regional Council of Elders to an elaborate Father’s Day lunch, Dr. Adomako said such recognition would bring divine blessings, foster unity, and strengthen the NPP’s chances of returning to power in the next general election.

According to him, the NPP was built on the foundation laid by the Council of Elders and Founding Members. He argued that sidelining them in decision-making and party activities would make it difficult for the party to regain power.

“The party is built upon the Council of Elders and Founding Members. Without recognising, acknowledging, and involving them in the party’s activities, it will be difficult for us to come back to power,” he said.

Dr. Adomako urged aggrieved elders within the party to put past disagreements behind them and refocus on unity.

He acknowledged their years of service, saying their experience remains critical to the party’s success in the Ashanti Region and beyond.

He assured them that the Ashanti Regional leadership would ensure they are treated fairly going forward.

“They should let bygones be bygones and continue to offer counselling and support to the party’s grassroots structures. Going forward, the party leadership in the Ashanti Region will ensure that they are treated fairly and given the respect they deserve,” he added.

The event, held at the Kumasi residence of the late NPP stalwart Akenten Appiah-Menka, brought together senior party figures and regional executives.

As a gesture of appreciation, Dr. Adomako presented the elders and patrons with custom hampers and undisclosed cash gifts.

Beyond the Father’s Day celebration, Dr. Adomako used the occasion to formally inform the Council of his decision to contest the upcoming regional executive elections for the position of Regional Secretary.

Reflecting on his tenure, he noted that having served two successful terms as Regional Organiser, the time is ripe for him to transition into a more central administrative role.

He emphasised that the experience and expertise he has gained over the past eight years uniquely qualify him to guide the party forward.

“I sincerely believe it is time for me to assume a more central position where I can administer the party and guide its restructuring efforts,” Dr. Adomako stated.

He added: “This will ensure we are in the best possible shape to recapture the parliamentary seats we lost in the Ashanti Region and ultimately propel the NPP to victory in the 2028 general elections.”

Addressing his administrative capabilities, Dr. Adomako stressed that at this crucial juncture, the NPP requires leadership capable of driving grassroots mobilisation and institutional restructuring, functions that fall directly under the mandate of the Regional Secretary.

He said his dual-term experience as Regional Organiser has equipped him with institutional memory, deep operational knowledge, and strong organisational skills.

“I am aspiring to become the Regional Secretary to inject fresh ideas into the office, unite the party, and mobilise our human resources,” he added.

Dr. Adomako added: “Together, we will deliver the results needed to recapture political power in 2028.”

Speaking to the media, Mr. Victor Owusu, Secretary to the Ashanti Regional Council of Elders, commended Dr. Adomako for his thoughtfulness in hosting the elders on Father’s Day.

He noted that such gatherings provide an important platform for senior party members to offer guidance to current executives.

Mr. Owusu added that the Council had closely monitored Dr. Adomako’s track record, praising his performance throughout his two terms as Regional Organiser.

“Members of this body are convinced that with the right leadership, the NPP in the Ashanti Region can successfully regain the ground it lost in the 2024 general elections,” Mr. Owusu remarked.
