The Christian Council of Ghana is urging President Akufo-Addo to state clearly Ghana’s  bold stance on homosexuality.
According to them, Ghana is against the legalization of homosexuality thus the President must not succumb to the whims and caprices of the international community.
Their call comes after President Akufo-Addo suggested Ghana more reconsider its stance if it comes under pressure.
Speaking on Aljazeera’s Talk to Al Jazeera hosted by Jane Dutton, President Akufo-Addo said until there is a strong call by the society for this to be done, there is no way the laws will be changed.

Opuni-Frimpong

But this position by the president, General Secretary of the Council, Rev Dr. Opuni Frimpong is a source of worry.
He indicated that, the comment would encourage such gay groups to start lobbying and put pressure on Ghana to legalize it.
Rather, the Christian Council General Secretary said President Akufo-Addo should have been emphatic to say that Ghana is against homosexuality and will never legalize it.
“Just like late former President Atta Mills was emphatic, President Akufo-Addo should have taken that opportunity to state Ghana’s position but this comment is quite disappointing” he added.
Going forward, Rev Opuni Frimpong urge the President to set the records straight to send a strong signal to the gay community.

  1. The curse of God is on any nation, leader, which endorses homosexuality. If you think Sodom and Gomorrah is a fiction, story, fairytale, try endorsing homosexuality.. In all instances where nations were destroyed by God, the !eaders were the prime cause. I prophecy the death of all members of parliament who will endorse any satanic precept.

  2. The President is a wimp. He can easily be pushed by the West. I was disappointed with his answer to the question.
The interviewer intentionally asked that question because the West has an agenda they want to push. Anyway thus will never happen in Ghana

  3. Nana Addo is not succumbing to anything. He barely stated the facts and proved his boldness in all matters. Listen to the interview before you go to town noise-making.

  4. What is Ghana’s position? Does the bible frown upon idol worshiping?? Why are you not screaming for the likes of Kwaky Bonsam to be banned? What is Ghana’s position? I beg let’s concentrate on resolving economic issues and like Nana Addo said, let the generation who is confronted with it deal with it per their understanding when it comes up. As of now, it is not on the hot plate and Ghana does not have any position please.
