A section of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) diaspora is urging former Energy Minister Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko to assume the role of National Chairman in the party’s next internal elections.
In a statement signed by NPP Russia Branch Chairman Ajene Abongo Mashood Jacob, the group highlighted that NPP constituency chairmen across all 16 regions have publicly endorsed Agyarko in recent months.
“For many abroad, Agyarko represents the blend of loyalty, competence, and integrity the party needs in this critical hour. His deep knowledge of the party’s tradition, coupled with decades of professional experience in international finance and governance, makes him uniquely positioned to steady the ship,” the statement said.
The diaspora emphasised that the NPP requires a unifier with grassroots roots and a global perspective. “Agyarko has the moral authority to hold everyone accountable and rebuild trust. He has nothing to prove; his sacrifices and record speak for themselves,” added a representative from the UK branch.
Members also praised his personal journey, noting that his years in exile during political unrest abroad never weakened his commitment to Ghana. “Unlike many who seek convenience in dual citizenship, he remained resolutely Ghanaian, strengthening his credibility as a patriot committed to the cause,” the statement added.
Voices from the Diaspora
“From Germany, we believe Agyarko is the steady hand our party needs at this critical moment. His loyalty and sacrifices make him the natural choice to restore unity,” said an NPP member in Germany.
“We in Finland admire his clarity and discipline. Agyarko understands both policy and people, and that makes him the right man to reposition the NPP for victory in 2028,” shared an NPP supporter in Finland.
“From Norway, we see in Agyarko a leader who embodies trust and accountability. He has the qualities to bring our party together and inspire confidence across all factions,” noted an NPP member in Norway.
“As members in South Africa, we believe Boakye Agyarko has the institutional memory and international credibility to unite our party. We proudly add our voice to the growing call for his chairmanship,” said a diaspora activist in South Africa.
As the NPP prepares for internal reorganisation ahead of the 2028 elections, the push from both grassroots and diaspora branches underscores growing confidence that Agyarko’s consistency and experience could provide the stability the party needs.
“The choice lies with the delegates, but the message from across the globe is unmistakable: Boakye Agyarko is the right man to lead the NPP at this moment,” the statement concluded.
