Deputy Minister for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has received a delegation from African World Airlines (AWA) following her participation in the official relaunch of the Accra–Abidjan air route in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The AWA delegation visited the Deputy Minister to express the airline’s appreciation for her presence and support during the relaunch ceremony.
Welcoming the delegation, Madam Affo-Toffey commended AWA for its continued commitment to strengthening air connectivity between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.
She said improved direct air links between the two neighbouring countries were crucial to promoting regional integration, facilitating trade and investment, and making travel easier for citizens, businesses and visitors.
The relaunch of the Accra–Abidjan route is expected to boost movement between the two countries while further strengthening their longstanding economic, cultural and diplomatic ties.
Madam Affo-Toffey, who is also the Member of Parliament for Jomoro in the Western Region, commended AWA for its contribution to Ghana’s aviation sector and its investment in regional connectivity.
She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with stakeholders in the aviation industry to improve connectivity, enhance passenger experience and support the growth of Ghana’s aviation sector.
The Accra–Abidjan route is particularly significant given the two countries’ close relationship as neighbours and members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Improved air connectivity between Accra and Abidjan is expected to benefit business travellers, tourists, government officials and other passengers who frequently travel between the two commercial hubs.
The engagement between the Deputy Minister and AWA highlights the importance of collaboration between government and private-sector operators in developing a more connected and efficient regional aviation network.
Madam Affo-Toffey’s participation in the route relaunch and subsequent engagement with AWA further demonstrate the government’s commitment to initiatives that promote regional integration and strengthen Ghana’s position as an important aviation and transport hub in West Africa.
