Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, says Ghana must build on the country’s restored macroeconomic stability to create a productive, competitive and resilient economy for the next decade.

“We have stabilised the present. Now we must secure the future,” he declared.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, at the Business Roundtable Extended 2026 Executive Dialogue in Accra, Mr Ampem said Ghana’s focus must now shift from correcting past economic challenges to expanding production, attracting investment and creating sustainable jobs.

The dialogue, organised by Ishmael Yamson & Associates, was held under the theme, “After the Corrections: Building Resilient Economic Pillars for the Next Decade.”

Mr Ampem identified stronger economic buffers, increased productivity, effective institutions, inclusive growth and a vibrant private sector as critical to protecting the economy from future shocks.

He also called for greater value addition, stronger domestic production and deeper linkages between agriculture, industry, technology and skills development.

According to him, securing Ghana’s economic future will require a renewed partnership between government and the private sector.

Government, he said, must provide macroeconomic stability, infrastructure, efficient regulation and fiscal discipline, while businesses must respond with increased investment, innovation, productivity, exports and job creation.

“That is the partnership we need—a partnership built around a common objective: a productive, competitive and resilient Ghanaian economy,” he stated.
