Veteran Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has sparked conversations after alleging that the entertainment industry is largely driven by self-glorification and influences he described as “demonic.”
Speaking in an interview with media personality Joey Akan, the actor claimed that many people in the industry focus on elevating themselves rather than serving God, a practice he described as a form of self-worship.
According to Iyke, he once believed he was extraordinary because of the overwhelming reactions he received from fans, including people crying and fainting whenever he appeared in public.
However, he said his perspective changed after finding a deeper connection with God, leading him to recognise that such admiration could become a form of misplaced worship.
“There is no bigger enabler than the entertainment industry. This is where demons live. Entertainment is totally created and orchestrated to extol the virtues of Satanism,” he said.
The actor argued that while creativity itself reflects God’s ability to create, the structure of the entertainment industry often encourages people to glorify themselves and seek god-like status.
“As a creative, to create is to mimic God. But in the entertainment structure, many serve self. You can’t serve God and serve self. Serving self is satanism itself,” he added.
Jim Iyke stressed that it requires conscious effort for entertainers to remain connected to their faith and avoid being consumed by fame, influence and public admiration.
He noted that finding God helped him understand that true significance comes from spirituality rather than the attention and praise that come with celebrity status.
