Tottenham Hotspur head coach Roberto De Zerbi has provided a positive update on Mohammed Kudus, confirming that the Ghana international is close to making his return after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Kudus has been out of action since suffering a quadriceps injury during Tottenham’s 1-1 Premier League draw against Sunderland in early January.
The setback forced the 25-year-old attacker to leave the game prematurely and kept him unavailable for several months.
The former West Ham United star had initially been on course for a comeback after making significant progress in his recovery and returning to full training.
However, his return was delayed after he suffered another setback during his rehabilitation process.
The recurrence ruled him out of Tottenham’s final seven league matches of the season and also prevented him from featuring for Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Despite the frustrating setback, Kudus is now nearing full fitness and could soon return to first-team training.
He is expected to join his teammates once Tottenham conclude their pre-season tour of New Zealand and Australia and return to London next month.
Speaking ahead of Spurs’ pre-season friendly against Auckland FC, De Zerbi expressed confidence that the Ghanaian winger is making good progress.
“Kudus is very close. I think when we come back to London he will be available to start working with us,” the Italian said.
De Zerbi also highlighted the importance of having Kudus back in his squad ahead of the new campaign.
“It’s a great thing for us. Kudus is another important player,” he added.
After a difficult campaign disrupted by injuries, Kudus will be eager to regain full fitness and return as a key figure in De Zerbi’s plans at Tottenham.
The North London club will also be hoping his comeback provides a major boost as they prepare for the new season, with the versatile forward expected to play a crucial role in their pursuit of success.
