Rapper Medikal has made a strong case for industry recognition while revealing the scale of investment behind his “Beyond Kontrol (BYK)” concert held at the Accra Sports Stadium in December 2025.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, the rapper disclosed that the production cost him about GH¢3 million, describing the event as one of the most ambitious projects of his career as an independent artiste.

According to Medikal, the BYK concert stands out as a defining moment in his journey, not only because of the scale of execution but also because he largely financed and drove the entire production himself at the national stadium.

He claimed the event pulled a crowd of over 40,000 people, filling the stadium to its capacity, with fans reportedly travelling from different parts of Ghana as well as neighbouring countries including Togo and Nigeria to witness the show.

Medikal argued that the turnout reflects his influence, consistency and relevance in the music space, for which he deserves greater acknowledgment.

Beyond the concert, he asserted that his contribution to Ghana’s music scene extends far beyond recording songs. He noted that he has continuously invested in shows, created platforms and helped push emerging artistes into the spotlight.

“I deserve my credit in this industry. I put in so much work bringing out songs and putting so many people on,” he said, maintaining that his efforts have not been fully appreciated.

His comments are part of a broader campaign push ahead of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, where he is positioning himself strongly in the race for Artiste of the Year.
