A 35-year-old carpenter, identified as Michael, has been electrocuted at One Leg, a suburb of Millennium City in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, while carrying out construction work on a two-storey building.

The tragic incident occurred when the deceased was working on the upper floor of the building.

According to reports, Michael was receiving pieces of wood from colleagues below when he accidentally came into contact with a high-tension electrical cable passing dangerously close to the structure.

Eyewitnesses told Adom News he lost consciousness and fell from the storey building onto a polytank, resulting in his death.

Speaking in an interview, Nana Abubakar Sulemana, a traditional leader in the area, disclosed that he was informed the deceased came into contact with the high-tension cable while working on the building before falling to the ground.

The body has since been conveyed to the mortuary for preservation and further investigations, while residents are calling on authorities to enforce safety measures around construction sites located near high-voltage power lines.
