BOSTenergies has donated GH₵1 million to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) to support efforts aimed at providing life-saving treatment for Ghanaians battling chronic and life-threatening illnesses.
The donation is expected to strengthen the Fund’s ability to finance specialised healthcare for patients who are unable to afford treatment, while expanding access to critical medical interventions and reducing the financial burden on families.
Presenting the cheque, Managing Director of BOSTenergies, Afetsi Awoonor, said the company was proud to partner with an initiative that is making a meaningful difference in the lives of Ghanaians.
He said healthcare remains one of the most important investments any country can make, adding that BOSTenergies believes every Ghanaian deserves access to quality medical care regardless of their financial circumstances.
“The Ghana Medical Trust Fund is providing hope to people who had almost given up, and we are proud to support this noble national initiative,” he said.
Mr Awoonor noted that the contribution reflects BOSTenergies’ commitment to responsible corporate citizenship and urged other organisations to support efforts to improve specialised healthcare delivery in Ghana.
He stressed that the donation goes beyond financial support, describing it as an investment in lives, families and the future of the country.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Administrator Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku expressed appreciation to BOSTenergies for supporting the Fund’s mission.
She said the contribution would help provide treatment for more patients suffering from chronic diseases and offer hope to families facing financial difficulties.
“This generous donation will translate directly into lives saved. It will help us support more patients requiring specialised treatment for chronic diseases, provide hope to families who have exhausted every option, and strengthen our efforts to ensure that quality healthcare is accessible to all Ghanaians,” she said.
Ms Darko-Opoku described the donation as a strong endorsement of the Fund’s work and emphasised the importance of private sector partnerships in achieving wider access to specialised healthcare.
She added that every contribution could help patients awaiting critical interventions such as chemotherapy, dialysis, heart surgery and brain surgery.
The Administrator further encouraged businesses, institutions and individuals to support the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, noting that contributions are 100 per cent tax-deductible, allowing organisations to support healthcare while benefiting from tax incentives.
The donation comes as Ghana continues efforts to develop sustainable healthcare financing systems for chronic diseases and highlights the growing role of public-private partnerships in improving access to specialised medical care.
