Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, have arrived in Morocco to begin the final phase of their preparations for the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The team, led by head coach Kim Lars Björkegren, will hold a pre-tournament training camp aimed at fine-tuning tactics, improving fitness levels and strengthening team cohesion ahead of the continental showpiece.
Eighteen players have so far reported to camp as the Black Queens begin the final phase of preparations for the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The technical team, led by head coach Kim Lars Björkegren, has commenced intensive training sessions aimed at fine-tuning the squad ahead of the continental championship. The camp will focus on tactical adjustments, improving match fitness and strengthening team cohesion as Ghana prepares for the tournament.
The Ghanaian side arrived in high spirits and is expected to intensify preparations over the coming days as they seek to make a strong impact at this year’s competition.
The remaining invited players are expected to join the squad shortly, allowing the team to reach full strength before the official start of the tournament.
As part of their build-up, the Black Queens will face Côte d’Ivoire in an international friendly on Tuesday, July 14, providing the technical team with another opportunity to assess the squad and refine its approach.
Ghana has been drawn in Group D alongside Cape Verde, Mali and Cameroon, with the Black Queens aiming to secure one of the qualification spots for the knockout stage.
The Black Queens will be looking to make a successful return to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and mount a strong challenge for continental glory after booking their place at the tournament.
