Ghana’s Black Queens will look to secure their place in the third round of the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers when they host Mauritius in the second leg of their second-round tie on Tuesday.

The match will take place at the Essipong Stadium in Sekondi-Takoradi, with Ghana holding a commanding 3-0 advantage from the first leg played at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex in Mauritius last Thursday.

Abigail Kim, Alice Kusi and Benedicte Simon scored as head coach Kim Lars Björkegren’s side claimed a comfortable victory to put themselves in a strong position to progress.

The Black Queens are seeking to qualify for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament for the first time in their history, having failed to reach the competition since women’s football was introduced at the Games in 1996.

Ghana head into the return fixture on the back of three consecutive victories across all competitions and will be determined to maintain that momentum in front of their home supporters.

The team held its official matchday training session at the Essipong Stadium on Monday evening as preparations for the decisive encounter continued.

Björkegren is expected to retain the core of the side that won the first leg, although the Swedish coach could make changes to give other players an opportunity.

Mauritius, meanwhile, face a difficult task as they seek to overturn the three-goal deficit and keep their Olympic qualification hopes alive.

The winner of the two-legged tie will advance to the third round, where they will face either Uganda or Zambia.

Tuesday’s match is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT.
