Ghana’s Black Meteors will resume preparations on Monday, October 12, as they step up their bid to qualify for the 2027 CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.
Head coach Desmond Ofei is expected to welcome 32 players to the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, where the team will begin preparations for a two-legged qualifying tie against Libya next month.
The matches are scheduled to take place during the November 9–17 international window, with Ghana travelling to Libya for the first leg before hosting the return fixture.
The technical team will reduce the squad as preparations progress, while six foreign-based players are expected to join the team ahead of the qualifiers.
The locally based players are expected to remain in camp until the matches, although temporary releases could be granted on a weekly basis to allow them to feature for their respective clubs in the Ghana Premier League.
Ghana must overcome Libya to advance to the final qualifying round, where they would face either Equatorial Guinea or Niger for a place at the tournament.
The three-round qualification campaign will determine the seven teams that join hosts Egypt at the eight-team U-23 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

For the Black Meteors, qualification would represent an important step towards ending Ghana’s long absence from men’s Olympic football.
Ghana last featured in the men’s Olympic football tournament at the 2004 Athens Games, where the team failed to progress beyond the group stage.
Ofei and his technical team will therefore be aiming to guide the side through the qualifying campaign and keep alive the country’s hopes of returning to the Olympic football stage.
