Bibiani GoldStars have officially appointed Greek tactician Petros Koukouras as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign.
The Miners confirmed the appointment as the club steps up preparations for the new season, with the 37-year-old expected to usher in a new era following the departure of Swiss coach Fritz Markus Schmid.
Schmid parted ways with Bibiani GoldStars earlier this month after taking charge of the club during the second half of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
Koukouras arrives with considerable coaching experience across East Africa, having built a strong reputation through his work with several clubs and national teams on the continent.
The Greek coach began his managerial career with Uganda’s Pacific Heroes FC before joining the technical team of the South Sudan national team as an assistant coach.
He later took charge of Ugandan giants SC Villa Jogoo, where he gained recognition for his tactical organisation, leadership qualities, and focus on developing young players.
In July 2023, Koukouras moved to Rwanda to become head coach of Kiyovu Sports, further enhancing his profile as one of the emerging European coaches making an impact in African football.
A holder of the UEFA A Licence, Koukouras is known for his modern football philosophy, emphasis on tactical discipline, and commitment to nurturing young talent.
His appointment is expected to bring fresh ideas and a new technical direction to the Bibiani GoldStars camp as the club seeks to maintain its competitiveness in the Ghana Premier League and achieve its targets for the upcoming season.
Club officials believe Koukouras’ international exposure and coaching expertise will play a key role in strengthening the squad and sustaining the club’s growth in Ghana’s top flight.
