Be firm on sanitation offenders; Acherensua queen mother urges Asutifi South Assembly

The Paramount Queen Mother of Acherensua in the Ahafo Region, Nana Mintah Yeboah II, has urged the Asutifi South District Assembly to take firm action against individuals who violate sanitation regulations.

Speaking during a community clean-up exercise joined by the District Chief Executive, she expressed concern over the growing disregard for sanitation laws, noting that offenders often go unpunished.

She told Adom News that existing laws provide enough authority for the Assembly to act, yet enforcement remains weak.

“The district has sanitation by-laws, but over the years, their enforcement has been poor. We need to see a renewed commitment to protecting the environment by ensuring that offenders face the necessary consequences,” she said.

The Queen Mother also appealed to the DCE to incorporate sanitation into the Assembly’s broader development agenda, stressing that improved hygiene is key to community progress.

Meanwhile, Pastor Kwasi Attah Agyapong of the Church of Pentecost in Acherensua encouraged residents to prioritise cleanliness, adding that poor sanitation poses serious health and developmental risks.

He called on the community to adopt consistent hygiene practices to support sustainable development in the area.
