The Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is in China for a four-day official visit.
This is the first visit by a high level government official to China since the New Patriotic Party (NPP) took office in January this year.
Dr Bawumia will be returning to Accra on Sunday June 25, 2017.
Ghana was among the first group of Sub-Saharan African countries that established diplomatic relations with China, and the two countries have enjoyed decades of strong ties.
This high level visit is expected to further strengthen the friendly relations and boost economic and political ties.
While in Beijing, Dr.Bawumia is expected to hold bilateral talks with the Chinese Vice President, Li Yuanchao, at the Great Hall of the People, and sign a number of agreements on behalf of Ghana.
Ghana’s Vice President will also meet Chinese leaders including Mr Yu Zhengsheng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese Political Consultative Conference.
He will also meet with the President of the China Exim Bank, Mr Liange Liu; the Executive Vice President of China Development Bank, Mr Wang Yongsheng, as well as Chinese businesses already operating in Ghana or desirous of doing so.
Dr Bawumia is further billed to attend the China-Africa Industrial Capacity Cooperation-Ghana Promotion Conference.
The Vice President, who was accompanied by a government delegation including the Senior Minister, Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo; Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen; Kwasi Amoako-Atta, Minister for Roads and Highways; Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Communications Minister; Mr Joe Ghartey, Minister for Railways; Mrs Gifty Ohene Konadu, Coordinator of the ‘One District One Factory’ initiative and Reginald Yofi Grant, Chief Executive of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, will also meet with the Ghanaian community in China and brief them on happenings back home.
