A former Member of Parliament for the Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern Region, Baba Jamal, says he will neither advise nor assess his successor in public.
“I have told myself from the beginning that I will not advise her [current MP, Ama Sey] in public,” Mr Jamal said when asked to pass judgement on his woman who defeated him to become MP of Akwatia.

Mr Jamal said he would prefer to assess her performance by having secret meetings with her where he can outline her weaknesses and strengths and not to assess her in the media.
“Ama Sey is my friend; we talk at times and so if you ask me to assess her performance in public, then I’m sorry I will not comment about her. I would rather advise her or assess her performance in secret, by having a meeting with her alone and talk to her.
“I want to believe she is doing her best for Akwatia and so, for now, I won’t talk about anything in public,” he stated.
Baba Jamal who was also a deputy Minister for Employment & Labour Relations made this known on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Thursday when asked to assess the performance of his successor, Ama Sey.
Mr Jamal polled 15,905 votes in the 2016 general elections as against Ama Sey, whom he described as hairdresser’s 21,433.

“If you want to know how Akwatia is doing, then I would say the constituency is completely broken. And I would blame the entire economy managed by Akufo-Addo and his ministers. They have failed us,” he cried.
