The Tenaso police have arrested a couple for their involvement in child marriage.
Fifty-one-year-old Ishmeal Kamal and his wife, Rakatu Abdullah were arrested for forcing their 12-year-old daughter to marry 26-year-old man identified only as Hakeem.
Their son-in-law, Hakeem has been picked up together with his would-be in-laws to assist in investigations.
Police acted on a tip-off after receiving complaints from residents to foil the marriage between the 12-year old girl and the fuel station supervisor believed to be a relative.
Police say Hakeem initially turned down a proposal to marry one of the three sisters of the victim who is aged 16.
He then settled on the poor 12-year old girl as his bride to be.
Tesano District Commander, ASP Oduro Amanin who confirmed the story says the suspects have been granted bail pending police investigations.
