The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is skeptical about the impact of a dialogue to disband party vigilante groups in the country.
Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia said his expectation was not met due to the demeanor of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He, thus, urged Ghanaians to blame the NPP if the national dialogue to disband vigilante groups does not yield any positive result.

General Mosquito, as he is popularly called, revealed this on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Wednesday while expressing his displeasure about what transpired at the meeting.
The much anticipated meeting between the NDC and NPP ended abruptly following disagreements over whether or not other stakeholders should join the mediation talks.
While the NDC called for a broader stakeholder engagements, the NPP maintained that the dialogue should be between the two political parties known to have such party affiliated militia groups.

This position by the NPP, according to General Mosquito, amounts to “deceit and betrayal” of their initial position.
He explained that the ruling party in a letter had agreed with the the NDC’s position to invite other stakeholders prior to the meeting, but changed their mind during the dialogue.
“I no longer have faith in this meeting because it is obvious the NPP deceived us. You agree with us and quickly change your position at the meeting? This is unacceptable,” the NDC scribe fumed.

Mr Nketia stated that though a statement released by the Peace Council, the mediator of the meeting, said both parties consented to the disbandment of party-affiliated vigilante groups, there was no consensus on the form the dialogue would take.
