Former Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is appealing to President Nana Akufo-Addo to complete the John Evans Atta Mills Presidential Library.

He bemoaned how the NDC could not honour its own illustrious son who sacrificed a lot for the party to regain power in 2008.

The two-storey edifice, which has a 100-seater capacity auditorium, 45-seater multimedia centre, seminar rooms and a museum which contains historical materials reflecting his life and works, is now a ‘white elephant’ after the government failed to pay the contractor.

The contractor has since locked the facility and has vowed to open it only when he is paid his arrears.

Commenting on the issue on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem programme, Tuesday, Mr Jacobs expressed disappointment about their inability to complete the project.

He revealed that, though he was then the NDC regional chairman, they did not include him in the planning committee for the project.

“The painful thing about it is, the people of Cape Coast value that edifice because it was built for the first president of Central region,” he stressed.

Mr Jacobs urged President Akufo-Addo to put politics aside and honour his predecessor who was also his very good friend.
