Abdul Malik Kweku Baako

Abdul-Malik Kweku Baako, the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, has waded into the trial of Gregory Afoko, brother of the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman, Paul Afoko.

According to Mr Baako, information available to him indicates that lawyers for Mr Afoko did not fulfill all his bail conditions fully which, to him, landed them in their current state.

Mr Afoko and Asabke Alangdi, have been accused of killing the Upper East Regional Chairman of the NPP, Adams Mahama in 2015.

During the selection of the jurors on Wednesday, counsel for Mr Afoko, Mr Stephen Sorwah Charway, prayed the court to allow the defence team to conduct a background check on the seven selected jurors.

According to him, that would allow the defence team to challenge the inclusion of any juror who is likely to be partial or does not qualify to be a member of the jury.

But, the ace journalist believes the decision by the High Court to rescind a bail condition in the matter was in a right direction.
