Residents of Asylum Down in the Accra Metropolis say the rate at which filth has engulfed the drain close to Nima junction is an indication of failed leadership.

They tell Adom News the garbage at the open space defeat President Akufo-Addo’s agenda of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa.

A resident of Asylum Down, Patrick Foli, describes the state as ‘very beautiful scene’ being used for decoration by city authorities.

According to him, if the filth which has choked the drain is not meant for beautification, it would have been cleared long ago.

He blamed Accra Metropolis for relenting on their effort in the fight against filth.

Mr. Foli said if AMA is not sleeping, managing waste should be the major source of revenue for the assembly.

‘President Akufo-Addo says he wants Accra to be the cleanest city in Africa, with this gutter choked with filth just a stone throw to his residence; he is just daydreaming’; Mr. Foli stated.

Reacting to the choked drain, Minister of Sanitation Cecilia Abena Dapaah charged AMA to as a matter of urgency clear the filth.

She also called on Ghanaians to stop indiscriminate disposal of waste.
