Asunafo North MP raises alarm over illegal logging in Kasapin

-

The Member of Parliament for Asunafo North Constituency in the Ahafo Region, Haruna Mohammed, has expressed deep concern over increasing illegal logging activities in Kasapin, warning that the practice poses a serious environmental threat.

Speaking to Adom News during a visit to inspect damage caused by a recent rainstorm, the MP described the situation as alarming.

He noted that Kasapin is designated as a high forest zone—an area once known for its dense vegetation and restricted logging—but is now being severely depleted due to rampant illegal tree felling.

Mr. Mohammed compared the environmental impact of the illegal activity to the destruction caused by the storm, emphasizing the long-term risks to both the ecosystem and local infrastructure.

He urged residents and individuals involved in the practice to stop cutting down trees unlawfully and protect the environment to avoid future disasters and safeguard their properties.
