The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Assin Central Constituency has elected a new set of constituency executives following a keenly contested internal election, as the party steps up preparations for the 2028 general elections.
The election, held as part of the NPP’s nationwide constituency executive polls, saw delegates choose a mix of experienced party officers and new faces to lead the party’s affairs in the constituency.

In the race for Constituency Chairman, Emmanuel Akuamoah Boateng, the former Constituency Secretary, defeated incumbent Attakora Amaniampong and Joseph Anninkora Kutin to secure victory with 340 votes. Attakora Amaniampong polled 215 votes, while Joseph Anninkora Kutin obtained 265 votes.
Other executives elected to serve the constituency include Lucas Osei Asiedu as First Vice Chairman, Francis Osei Mensah Buobu as Second Vice Chairman, Frederick Essuman as Constituency Secretary, Jonah Berko as Treasurer, Simon Sobeng as Deputy Secretary, Aminu Rhino Awudu as NASARA Coordinator, Gloria Tei as Women’s Organiser, John Pobee as Youth Organiser, and Yahaya Mohammed as Communications Officer.

Following the declaration of the results, some party supporters expressed optimism about the new leadership, describing the outcome as a positive step toward strengthening the party ahead of the next general elections.
Speaking to Adom News’ Alfred Amoh, some supporters said they believed the election represented a “rescue mission” for the constituency, adding that delegates voted with the long-term growth and sustainability of the NPP in Assin Central in mind.
The newly elected executives are expected to focus on promoting unity within the constituency and strengthening the party’s grassroots structures as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.
