The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has destooled his linguist, Kyeame Kofi Nti, following a decision taken at an Asanteman Council meeting held at the Manhyia Palace.
In a Facebook post on Monday, April 20, the Palace stated that the decision followed a number of concerns and allegations raised against him during the meeting.

Key among the issues were questions about his royal lineage, as well as concerns over his inability to properly invoke the Otumfuo Ntam Kɛseɛ—an important responsibility associated with his role as Kyeame.

He was also accused of mishandling and holding on to multiple invocations of the sacred oath beyond what is traditionally allowed for someone in his position.

The Council further noted that he failed to properly report invocations of the Ntam Kɛseɛ, describing this as a serious breach of duty for someone occupying such a highly respected role.
Additionally, allegations relating to the wrongful enstoolment of an Ayaase Dikro, brought forward by the Ayaasehene, were also considered.
After deliberations, the Council resolved to remove him from office.
